Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
For all practical purposes, our office functions very similar to your design department across the street or across state. We enable clients to have an instant 'remote virtual office' without having to invest in creating the basic infrastructure. This was not feasible just a few years ago.
Due to our low operating costs, we are able to offer design services at highly competitive rates and help clients deliver cost-efficient solutions to their clients. Although the benefits of low-cost design centers are a well known, it is still not the 'standard' practice.
Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:
Is it possible to maintain high standards of quality considering the remote locations and lack of face-to-face meetings?
Yes. By proper planning and use of a system of checks and balances, we ensure that client's quality standards are met. We scrutinize all deliverables rigorously before submitting to clients. We obtain continuous feedback from client and make improvements in our processes.
Is there a minimum size for which this arrangement is feasible?
No. Any size of project can be executed with this method. If it can be done in your office, it can be done in our office as long as the requirements are properly communicated.
Naturally, the larger the project, greater will be the benefit. However, we recommend that initially, small projects in the range of 100 to 300 hours should be tried. This will give your team the opportunity to get familiar & comfortable working with our team.
Is our staff familiar with US design practices and codes?
Yes. Our team is guided by principals who have worked in the US for several years.
How do we communicate with clients?
We communicate with clients via e-mail, ftp, fax, telephone and voice mail.
Sending Electronic Files Using ftp
We have ftp facility to send files. We can provide you access to our ftp server or we can use your project ftp site if you prefer.
Sending Printed Documents: Design Drawings, sketches, catalog cut-sheets or any other hard copy document is scanned and converted into tif or jpg format and uploaded to the ftp server. To limit file size, it is recommended that scanning be done in Black & White at 150 dpi, when possible.
Most commercial reprographics firms, such as, Kinko's, Ridgways, etc provide large format scanning at reasonable rates. Some even ftp files to designated site or upload at their site to be shared by different parties.
Marking Up Documents
Documents are marked up manually or through software (red-lining). Hardcopy markups are scanned and sent as tif//jpg files.
We have a 24 hour voicemail & fax facility. Clients can leave detailed messages which are delivered as e-mail attachments. We use services of j2.com for this purpose. Our mail is checked very frequently. Generally we are able to respond to your messages within 2-3 hour in most case. Off course, for very urgent matters, clients can get in touch with us 24/7 at (91) 989 001 9718.
What is the time zone difference? What are the working hours? How can we communicate?
We are located in Aurangabad which is located in Central India approximately 200 miles East of Mumbai. There is a 10:30 hours difference between India and US Central Standard Time (6:30 am in CST zone is 5:30 pm in India). This changes with day light saving time.
We work from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. This usually provides some overlapping working hours between US and India.
Almost 100% of our document exchange is electronic, however, when required, we send hardcopy documents via FedEx, DHL and Airborne which takes 3-4 business days.
